Areas of employment for Wood Engineers
Due to the general scope of the studies and the possibility of specialising in various tracks, wood engineers are able to work in a wide variety of areas in the timber industry and its suppliers. Our recent graduates now work in the following areas

- Veneer production and processing
- Plywood- Fibreboard and Chipboard production
- Laminated timber production
- Interior Engineering firms
- Timber frame and prefab companies and their suppliers
- Window, Door, Flooring, Staircase production
- Suppliers for the car industry (Interior)
- Suppliers for the aeronautical industry (Interior)
- Caravan production and furnishing
- Shipyards (passenger cabins and Interior)
- Timber yards
- Paper and Fibre industry
- IT and Consulting
- Engineering works for the production of woodworking machinery
- Research and lecturing
Additionally wood engineers are employed in the public sector as well as engineering offices and professional trade associations/organizations.
Career prospects
Career prospects for graduates and experienced engineers are excellent. The wide focus of the professional training with its emphasis on organisation and management offers extensive job opportunities inside as well as outside the wood working industry.
There are many possibilities for further professional development. Graduates can progress to higher management positions within a few years of experience.
International businesses in particular urgently seek wood engineering graduates.
According to recent market research starting salaries range from 36,000 to 45,000€ per annum and are thus comparable to other engineering branches.
